Beregost is a prosperous city located halfway between Baldur’s Gate and the region of Amn , along the famous Coast Road . Its strategic location makes it a must-see for merchants and travelers heading to Waterdeep or the Sea of Fallen Stars, fostering a constant flow of goods and culture.
The city is characterized by well-maintained and constantly expanding buildings, with new businesses springing up every day. The government is led by the high priest Kelddath Ormlyr , assisted by 18 priests and protected by the temple guards and the Flaming Fist , mercenaries from Baldur’s Gate.
Originally a small farming village, Beregost developed alongside the Ulcaster School of Magic , destroyed in 1106 DR by Calishite wizards. On its ruins arose the Temple of Lathander , a symbol of rebirth and creativity.
Among the main places of interest are:
- Temple of the Morning Song , with mosaics, stained glass windows and statues of the deity
- Thalantyr Tower , with magical items protected by Golems
- Thunder Hammer Forge , for enchanted weapons and artifacts
- Beregost Trading Post , run by the dwarf Korgan Bloodaxe
- Inns and taverns , such as the Jovial Juggler and the Feldepost Inn , frequented by travellers and adventurers
Beregost represents a perfect balance of trade, magic, and social life, making it an indispensable stop along the Sword Coast .
